What a week holds
Four things come back every week, and the guides plan the rest around the days each student is here.
Reading and writing
Each morning, in two groups by age. Students read, write and talk about what they read.
Math
A daily hour, in two groups, with materials on the shelves in the back room.
A project
One project a week in the afternoons, with younger and older students at the same table.
Outdoors
The garden, the yard and the field every day, and a long walk on Wednesdays.
The rooms
The front room and the back room
The front room has the long tables where the morning begins and the afternoon projects happen. The back room has low shelves, a reading loft and a rug, and it is where the younger group works while the older group is at the tables.
Students move between the rooms through the day.
The week
Mornings stay the same, afternoons change
Every day starts at the door and ends at the porch. The afternoons are for projects, the garden and the long walk.
