Safety routines
Arrival and pickup
A guide is at the door at 8:30 and on the porch at 3:00. Only the adults on a family's pickup list may collect a student, and we ask to see ID until we know you.
Visitors
Visitors ring at the door and sign in on the clipboard by the hooks. A parent who volunteers signs in the same way.
Weather and drills
We practice fire drills on a calendar the guides keep, and we walk through our plan for a tornado watch with the students each fall and spring.
The yard and the field
Outdoor time stays inside the yard, the garden and the field, in sight of a guide. On trail days both guides walk with the group.
Allergies
Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll. Both guides keep each student's plan within reach.
Illness
A student with a fever stays home until the next morning, and a guide calls a parent when a student is unwell at school.
