Questions
What families ask us
How does admissions work?
Families visit, apply and hear back within two weeks of a visit day. The admissions page lists each step and the months they fall in.
When are open houses and visit days?
Open houses are in October and April. Visit days run on Wednesdays from September to May, and the Book a visit button at the top of any page books one.
Can we visit before applying?
Yes. A visit day is how most families begin. Your child sits in on a morning, you see both rooms, and you talk with a guide.
What is a day like?
The day starts at the door at 8:30, with reading, writing and math in the morning, lunch on the porch, time outdoors and a project in the afternoon. It ends at 3:00.
How does tuition work, and how do we ask about aid?
Tuition depends on how many days a week a student comes. The tuition page explains how a place is held and how to ask about financial aid, and the guides go through it at a visit.
How big is the school?
Fourteen students, aged 6 to 12, in two rooms with two guides.
Can my child come part of the week?
Yes. Families choose three, four or five days. The guides plan the afternoons around the days each student is here.
What do students of different ages do together?
Reading and math are in two groups by age. The morning meeting, lunch, time outdoors and the project afternoons are mixed ages.
What happens in bad weather?
Rain moves lunch into the front room and shortens the long walk. When snow or ice closes the road, we text families before 6:30 am.
How does the school talk with families?
A note goes home on Fridays, and each family meets with a guide once a term. You can write or call the office on any school day.
Still have a question?
Write to the office, or book a visit day.
